Building a QR Code Video Experience on RayNeo X3 Pro AR Glasses

Introduction

Augmented Reality is rapidly moving from prototypes to real-world applications, and smart glasses are becoming the next major computing platform. Recently, I had the opportunity to develop a QR Code Scanning and Video Playback application on the RayNeo X3 Pro AI+AR Smart Glasses.

The objective was simple: scan a QR code through the smart glasses camera and instantly launch an associated video within the AR environment. What started as a proof-of-concept quickly demonstrated how hands-free AR devices can transform learning, training, maintenance, retail, and industrial operations.

This blog shares my experience with the RayNeo X3 Pro, highlights its key specifications, and explains how its capabilities make application development possible.

What is RayNeo X3 Pro?

QR Code Scanning and Video Playback Solution

Enhancing Visitor Engagement at Infosys Living Labs

Infosys Living Labs showcases a wide range of innovative solutions, emerging technologies, and digital transformation use cases for customers, partners, and visitors. During guided tours, visitors often want a deeper understanding of specific exhibits, including the business problems being addressed, solution capabilities, technology architecture, and real-world benefits.

To provide an interactive and self-guided experience, I developed a QR Code Scanning and Video Playback application on the RayNeo X3 Pro AR Smart Glasses. Each showcase within the Living Labs is associated with a unique QR code. When a visitor scans the QR code using the smart glasses, the application instantly retrieves and plays a relevant video explaining the showcase in greater detail.

This enables visitors to access rich multimedia content directly through the AR device, creating an immersive and engaging experience without requiring assistance from a guide or additional mobile devices.

Solution Workflow

QR-Powered Interactive Showcase Experience

Step 1: Discover a Showcase
Visitors explore various solution exhibits and innovation demos within the Infosys Living Labs.

Step 2: Scan the QR Code
Using RayNeo X3 Pro’s integrated camera, the visitor scans the QR code displayed alongside a specific showcase.

Step 3: Identify the Associated Content
The application decodes the QR code and retrieves the mapped multimedia content associated with that exhibit.

Step 4: Launch Showcase Video
The relevant informational video is automatically loaded and displayed through smart glasses.

Step 5: Learn Through Immersive Viewing
Visitors watch the video directly within the AR experience and gain insights into:

  • Business challenges addressed
  • Solution overview
  • Key features and capabilities
  • Technology components
  • Business benefits and outcomes
  • Real-world use cases

Step 6: Continue Exploring
After viewing the content, visitors can seamlessly move to the next showcase and repeat the process, creating a personalized and self-paced innovation tour across Living Labs.

Developer Experience

As a developer, one of the attractive aspects of the RayNeo X3 Pro is its support for Android and Unity-based development environments. The platform offers opportunities to develop:

  • AR productivity applications
  • AI-enabled assistants
  • Training solutions
  • Navigation experiences
  • Enterprise workflows
  • Multimedia AR experiences

The QR-code-to-video use-case demonstrated how quickly a practical solution can be built when camera access, AR visualization, and media playback capabilities are available on a single device.

Limitations and Considerations

While the device is powerful, developers should consider:

  • Battery life constraints for continuous AR workloads
  • Display resolution limitations compared to larger AR headsets
  • Application optimization for wearable computing
  • Network dependency for cloud-based AI services

Despite these considerations, the lightweight design and AR capabilities make it highly suitable for enterprise and field-worker scenarios.

Conclusion

My experience building a QR Code Scanning and Video Playback solution on the RayNeo X3 Pro demonstrated the practical value of wearable AR computing. The combination of Micro LED displays, AI capabilities, dual-camera sensing, spatial computing, and flexible interaction methods enables a new class of enterprise applications.

Whether it’s training operators on a factory floor, guiding technicians through maintenance procedures, or providing contextual information in real time, the RayNeo X3 Pro showcases how smart glasses can bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds.

The QR-to-video solution is just one example. As AR hardware and AI continue to evolve, the possibilities for hands-free intelligent experiences are virtually limitless.
