For many learners, the transition from education to employment raises practical questions: How do classroom concepts find relevance in the workplace? What exposure prepares students for evolving industry expectations? Addressing this gap requires more than curriculum. It calls for collaboration, access, and technology-enabled learning pathways that connect learning with its real-world application.
A recent partnership between Infosys Springboard and the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) Kerala, under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala, reflects this focus. Designed to expand access to digital learning and industry-aligned skill development, the partnership brings together the strengths of public education systems and industry-led digital learning platforms.
Creating Industry Exposure Through Internships
The partnership primarily aims to prepare learners across Kerala for a swiftly evolving job market, which is increasingly defined by digital skills and practical experience. As part of the initiative, over 100 students are currently undertaking internships through Infosys Springboard, gaining early exposure to structured, industry-aligned work environments. In parallel, more than 100 additional learners have registered on the platform, positioning themselves to access future learning and internship opportunities as they become available.
Currently pursuing Computer Science and Engineering, and my internship experience at Infosys Springboard has been incredibly valuable. It has been a great learning experience where I gained practical experience in front-end and back-end development, along with working on full-stack applications and API integration. This experience has helped me understand real-world development practices, enhance my technical and problem-solving skills, and effectively bridge the gap between academics and industry. Overall, it has been a highly enriching and rewarding experience. The formal exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place in the presence of R. Bindu, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Kerala, along with senior representatives from Infosys Springboard and ASAP Kerala. Through partnerships such as this one with ASAP Kerala, these resources reach students at scale, ensuring broader and more equitable access.
