Transforming lives and governance through digital literacy, training, and innovation
In a small village in Karnataka, Meera**, an Anganwadi supervisor, is training the Anganwadi workers on vital information related to nutrition and childcare – she’s transforming her community. Thanks to a free digital literacy initiative provided by Infosys Springboard, she’s learned to use digital platforms to disseminate information. “I never thought I’d be confident with technology,” she says. “Now, I’m not just helping others; I’m inspiring them.”
Meera’s story illustrates how Infosys Springboard transforms lives and empowers individuals to use technology for social good. Partnering with the WCD (Women and Child Development) department of Karnataka’s Centre for e-Governance (CeG), the initiative addresses critical digital literacy and governance gaps across the state’s rural regions. This grassroots-level training is fostering long-term, inclusive development. Over 400 Anganwadi supervisors have been trained to deliver educational content on nutrition and childcare. Asha**, another supervisor, shared her experience: “Using technology has made my work more impactful. I can now confidently train others, passing on valuable skills.” What makes this initiative even more remarkable is its accessibility. Training content is delivered in Kannada, ensuring participants across all 32 districts can fully engage. This grassroots-level reach amplifies their contributions to governance and community building.
Building a digitally skilled workforce in governance
Karnataka’s Centre for e-Governance (CeG) has a long-standing reputation for driving innovation in public services. However, its collaboration with Infosys Springboard, launched in January 2024, has taken this commitment to the next level by equipping government employees with essential digital skills in partnership with the Capacity Building Department (CB). This program empowers them through tailored training to meet the demands of a digital-first world. 200+ government staff have gained cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and web development skills to use technology for streamlining administrative processes.
Elevating cybercrime training through technology
Cybercrime has introduced unprecedented challenges; building awareness by making robust training is more vital than ever. Karnataka’s Centre for Cybercrime Investigation Training and Research (CCITR), in partnership with Infosys Springboard, has stepped up to meet this need. They provide specialized cybersecurity audits, digital forensics, and ethical practices courses. The program equips law enforcement and judicial personnel with the skills to fight modern cybercrime effectively. 51 officers registered, with 42 actively advancing their skills through specialized Springboard courses. The CCITR team has also uploaded content related to investigative proficiency in cybercrime cases on the platform. This content is specific to their staff training needs. This partnership strengthens Karnataka’s police force and the justice system’s integrity, ensuring it can adapt to the evolving digital landscape.
Bridging the digital divide for long-term impact
Infosys Springboard is not just addressing today’s challenges. The team’s holistic approach paves the way for a digitally equipped Karnataka, where individuals, communities, and institutions are empowered to thrive.
Why it matters
- For citizens: Digitally skilled government employees improve public service delivery
- For communities: Localized awareness campaigns foster safer digital practices, better childcare, and more informed families
- For law enforcement: Specialized knowledge and tools to strengthen the fight against cybercrime
These efforts are about more than numbers. They represent real change for real people, from a supervisor in a remote district to an officer solving crimes to protect citizens online. This is collaborative learning with purpose.
The road ahead
Infosys Springboard is not stopping here. The team remains steadfast in the goal of scaling these efforts, reaching more communities, and expanding the impact. Karnataka is fast becoming a digital governance leader, and Infosys Springboard intends to lead from the front in creating lasting, tech-enabled learning ecosystems.
