Infosys Springboard’s commitment to shaping futures took a decisive step in Chamarajanagar, an aspirational district known for its tribal population, remote landscapes, and socio-economic challenges. Partnering with the District Collector, DDPI, and Rotary Panchsheel Mysore, the Infosys Springboard team introduced an initiative aimed at digital skilling in the education sector.
Through this program, 1,350 tablets were distributed across 60 schools, enhancing students’ access to learning tools. Additionally, 110 smart TVs were provided to 55 government schools to bring interactive content to classrooms. This effort extended beyond students; 100 teachers were invited to the Infosys Mysore campus for a hands-on workshop on teaching methodologies using technology. A tailored calendar of Infosys Springboard courses was also introduced to ensure lifelong learning opportunities.
Despite the district’s remote landscapes and limited resources, active support from Zilla Parishad and the district administration helped the program thrive, marking a turning point in integrating digital tools into classrooms.
A teacher reflected, “This initiative has opened doors to a modern learning environment for us and our students. The workshops gave us the confidence to integrate technology into our teaching. It’s inspiring to see our students so engaged.”
Through these resources, the region’s students and educators are now better connected to a digital learning ecosystem that empowers them with tools to bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement.
Rehabilitation through education: Skilling undertrials in Chamarajanagar prison
The second initiative of Infosys Springboard brought promise to a section of society often forgotten: the undertrials. Designed for men and women aged 15–37 and awaiting judicial outcomes, the project aimed to utilize time within confinement to provide skills that could support rehabilitation and future employment.
Collaborating with the District Collector and organizations like Soften and CCD Mysore, the initiative established a digital lab equipped with internet access (under strict monitoring) within the prison. Infosys Springboard courses were carefully selected to align with participants’ educational backgrounds. Specific modules such as Tally and MS Office were introduced to enhance employability prospects, and the results were remarkable.
Among the 15 enrolled undertrials, 10 completed certifications during their training, marking a significant first-of-its-kind milestone in prisoner rehabilitation. The program imparted technical skills and instilled a sense of purpose and hope.
Feedback from one participant (shared anonymously) revealed, “For many of us, this was an opportunity to feel connected to the outside world again. Training in these tools made us realize that life after this phase could still hold possibilities.”
An individual who completed the program is now employed, finding stability by contributing to office tasks like drafting letters and sending emails. Another participant has actively begun searching for jobs, sharing that creating a resume and applying for positions has given them renewed optimism.
This focused intervention highlights Infosys Springboard’s commitment to breaking stigmas around confinement. It bridges the gap between someone’s current reality and potential, aligning with Infosys’s values of inclusion and empowering marginalized communities.
The heart of the matter
Infosys Springboard’s Chamarajanagar projects stem from the belief that empowerment is integral in classrooms, jails, and every space where lives can be positively impacted. Whether revolutionizing education in rural schools through technology or offering second chances to undertrials through meaningful skill-building opportunities, these initiatives show how innovation brings lasting change.
Through these efforts, the Infosys Springboard team is nurturing communities and paving the way for resilience, growth, and opportunity. The projects are a reminder that uplifting individuals ensure collective progress—a mission Infosys continues to champion with determination and steadfast commitment.
