Imagine a world where every child, regardless of location, has access to cutting-edge digital education. Infosys Springboard is turning this vision into reality by empowering communities with essential digital and life skills. Aligned with Infosys ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Vision 2030, the platform aims to help over 10 million individuals gain basic digital skills by 2025. A significant step toward achieving this vision has been connecting to the unconnected. A key initiative in this effort is distributing smart devices to government schools in rural Goa. Through this effort, students can now access curated, high-quality courses on Springboard, crucial in bridging the digital divide and creating inclusive educational opportunities.
Addressing Digital Challenges in Rural Schools
Recognizing the unique challenges that rural areas face—including limited resources and budget constraints—the Infosys Springboard team collaborated with the Goa school education department to identify schools that would benefit most from this initiative. The partnership resulted in 2,610 tablets being distributed to 87 schools across Goa, transforming them into dynamic “Infosys Springboard classrooms buzzing with the excitement of digital learning.” These classrooms are each equipped with 20 to 30 tablets designed to provide students from grades 6 to 10 with structured access to the Infosys Springboard platform.
The aim is to integrate online education seamlessly into these schools’ academic schedules. Under a planned learning calendar, students get at least one hour per week to explore various courses across topics like Digital Technologies, Computer Science, supplementary academic content, and Life Skills. The platform’s content also includes Math, Science, and English lessons tailored to make these subjects engaging and approachable.
With several courses offered in regional languages, the initiative also promotes inclusivity and caters to a diverse audience. By providing these resources at no cost, the program has paved the way for enhancing academic and digital proficiencies for rural students.
Empowering education leaders through leadership programs
Beyond its efforts for students, Infosys Springboard is focused on equipping education leaders with tools to create meaningful changes in the system. This commitment was evident in the Leadership Development Program (LDP) organized for senior education officials from Goa. Conducted from November 5–8, 2024, in Pune, this pioneering program attracted 31 directors and administrators from the Department of Education (DoE), the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The program was designed to build leadership and management skills, enabling participants to drive digital transformation across Goa’s educational framework.
Highlights included sessions on “Digital Teaching and Learning Methods” and insightful discussions on emerging fields, such as ” Generative AI “.
The feedback from participants echoed the program’s success. Dr. Niyan Marchon from DHE Goa described it as an “enriching” experience, adding that the strategies outlined during the workshop would serve as a foundation for improvements in institutions across the state.
Charting a course for the future
The Leadership Development Program has deepened the synergy between Infosys Springboard and Goa’s vibrant education ecosystem. The partnership is set to reach new heights with plans to simplify student self-registration for DHE and SCERT-affiliated institutions, create a bespoke microsite tailored to their distinct needs, and host dynamic virtual sessions designed to empower educators with tools to harness the platform’s potential fully.
A particularly impactful development is the planned integration of Infosys Springboard with DISHTAVO, a digital learning initiative spearheaded by DHE Goa. This integration can potentially standardize and expand digital learning opportunities across the state, reaching a broader audience in urban and rural settings.
Measuring impact and growing engagement
The impact of the partnership is reflected in the substantial engagement numbers. In just a few months, Students using Infosys Springboard in Goa have already clocked over 1,240 learning hours. Each learning session contributes to building a generation prepared to tackle the demands of a digitally driven future. Imagine the exponential growth as more students embrace this digital revolution!
As more students and educators benefit from programs like Infosys Springboard, the initiative will empower over 10 million individuals. Together, they can shape a future where every student is digitally literate and ready to conquer the world.
